Elon Musk announced DOGEcoin will be accepted as a method of payment in The Loop in Las Vegas.
It’s part of one of Musk’s latest projects by the Boring Company in Las Vegas, which “creates safe, fast-to-dig, and low-cost transportation, utility, and freight tunnels” with the mission to “solve traffic, enable rapid point-to-point transportation and transform cities.” This Vegas loop tunnel transportation system includes miles of tunnel systems throughout the city.
Now, if you find yourself weary after a long day or night of wandering Las Vegas, you can drop down to The Loop, an underground tunnel where you’ll find Tesla cars operating as underground ferries around the city.
The Boring Company connects the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop with the Las Vegas Strip. The Loop offers passengers efficient transportation without stops along the way. And if that isn’t futuristic enough for you, then after you’ve arrived at your destination you can pay with your digital currency- DOGEcoin. (The company isn’t currently charging riders, however, but plans to in the future.)
Currently only one station of The Loop in Vegas is open, right under the Las Vegas convention center, but the company plans to develop 50 more stations across their 29 mile underground tunnel network.
When “The Loop'' does start charging for rides, it will be incredibly affordable. Passengers will be charged $2.50 for a day pass or $1.50 for a single ride. While Musk continues promoting DOGEcoin through his tweets and companies, customers will also be able to use regular US dollars and credit cards to purchase their rides on The Loop.
In Elon Musk’s tweet about The Loop accepting DOGEcoin, he said “Supporting Doge wherever possible.”
Other companies of Musk’s accept DOGEcoin as well, such as Tesla merchandise stores and some Supercharger stations, but this will be the first of those companies to reach such a broad market. Soon anyone will be able to buy and spend $1.50 of DOGEcoin on an underground Tesla ride if their heart desires.
